![]() Someone once suggested there was something wrong w/ my Finder/panel selection options)Same folder in the FinderAlso, for reference, here are the other places people have had this exact issue in Sierra and it never was resolved: I've Done So Far these screenshots are not full panels, but close-ups. It almost looks like 'kind' since images go together, as do folders, but it's not. From Safari (for an example. All of my files are arbitrarily sorted, not by name/kind/etc. It doesn't matter the application. When these panels open and I view in Column View mode, selecting 'Name' (with or without 'option' held down) does essentially the same thing as 'None' (which in other users defaults to alphabetical order vs. This issue appearsonly on my user (doesn't happen if I go to the Guest User account, but it does for my user, even if I'm in Safe Boot Mode) whenever I go to File/Open, File/Save, or click the 'Browse.' button on a website. Figured I'd write another with all acquired information.I'm running Sierra OS 12.6.2 on a Late-2013 Retina MacBook Pro.The ProblemFirst off, Finder is OK. My workaround is to have my assistant open the documents and send them tom me as an excel but that will only do for so long.įile/Open nor File/Save Panel Won't Sort/Arrange by Name in Column View - Sierra Had a post about this that was never solved. And unlike Numbers which CAN open excel documents, I cannot open a numbers document in excel. I feel like I am screaming into the wind but I need to access years of numbers documents for reference in my job. I know it's in the cloud but I really want to make sure this will work before I go through the hassle of having to reload all my photos, documents, emails, contacts, events etc - and their preferences. I started to do so but was freaked about all the questions and asking if I was SURE I wanted to log out because everything would be gone. I have tried everything short of logging out of iCloud and logging back in which was another suggestion. ![]() Some highlights: I have uninstalled and reinstalled the app. plist file do not apply since there no longer is a file. I have done most - if not all - of the fixes. Searching various solution in the discussions I was able to get Pages and Keynote working by restoring Font Book. After a few restarts Spotify began to open fine. All did except for Spotify, Numbers, Pages and KeyNote. I then attempted to open other apps to test which would open. When it launched Spotify launched at login and also crashed. Got the internet working and launched Numbers. I forced quit and relaunched Numbers but every time I attempted to open the file it locked up (because it was offline.) I finally realized the issue. I did not realize at the time that my internet connection was down so apparently the app locked up while trying to open a document that was not on the local hard drive. Yesterday while working in Numbers the app hung up - swirly beach ball - after attempting to open a document in dropbox. I have a M1 MacBook Air with Big Sur and it has been flawless for the past 7 months. Numbers crashing on launch I have seen numerous posts throughout the discussions addressing this same issue - with varying levels of success. This is making me really stressed out, as I use FireAlpaca for all my digital drawings and I even have a commission I was working on.(I'm using macOS Catalina) And yes, I tried opening it from control-clicking it in Finder and still nothing. I am not sure what to do.I have tried seeing if it was because it was from an unidentified developer, but I allowed the Mac to open it and it still didn't work, so I don't think it was because of that. I even tried downloading FireAlpaca again and duplicating the original FireAlpaca file and opening the duplicate, but it does the exact same thing: Every time I try to open it, it opens a folder in Finder that has an "Abort.dat" file in it and a bunch of autosaved files of drawings I was working on. When it came back on, everything was normal, except for the fact that FireAlpaca, the app I use to draw, would not open. So I was watching YouTube on my MacBook Air when all of a sudden the screen went to a colored static screen.
